Self-cleaning filter; competing the future

MatureDevelopment BV, a Dutch company active in System Innovation, co-developed for the aquaculture industries a self-cleaning bio filter. Emphasis is placed on cost competitiveness, low head operations, biosecurity, intensification of ponds and nursery systems. The filter system is reducing total costs of ownership while improving performance compared to conventional filter systems. Limitations in water quality and quantity, lack of land, cost of land, limitations on water, zero larvae and parasites discharges, environmental impacts and diseases, reducing total costs of ownership, increasing revenues within business constraints; all are driving the aquaculture industry towards more intensive practices, towards innovation. This forces the breeding hatcheries and producers to adopt environmentally and cost-effective friendlier technologies.
