MareLifes main tool box is open innovation consisting of contemporary processes (mostly generic R&D and innovation projects addressing the big common issues for the sectors which are too ambitous to deal with on an individual basis: feed resources, disease control, animal welfare, sustainable harvest of marine resources, low carbon foot print, reputation of trust building, cross sector marine projects to maximize synergy etc), meeting arenas and not the least common efforts (one common strong voice) in dialogue with authorites aiming at optimizing public frameworks for innovation (finance, legal issues etc).

While world leaders are setting the agenda to save the globe from overheating, mankind also needs foods both in quantity and quality and preferrably produced in the smartest and most sustainable way. The fastest growing populations are those with the strongest traditions in seafood consumption and given the current growth rate our planet will be hosting approx 10 bill people by 2050. With increasing restrictions in land and water available for terrestrial food production and also given the relatively high carbon foot print of industrial livestocks, the escalation of aquatic and marine production offers a needed sustainable buffer.
